Oscar Wilde

Oscar Fingal O’Flahertie Wills Wilde was born on 16th October 1854 in Dublin, the second of three children of Sir William Wilde and his wife Lady Jane.

After studying in Trinity College in Dublin was appointed “the best student of Greek” afterwards attended the Magdalena College in Oxford and won the “Newdigate” prize. He decided to relocate on London

He went to live in London, where he published his first collection of poetry: “Poems”.


Soon after, in 1882, he relocate on America, where he tried to promoting himself. American people loved is talk, and his eccentricity.

Return to England became the leader of Aesthetic Movement. Afterthat in 1884, he married Constance Lloyd and they had two son.

Probably inspirated by his son, in 1888 wrote a collection of children story: “The happy Prince and Other Tales”.

The most famous book was “The picture of Dorian Gray”, that was considered immoral for the homosexual allusions.

In 1895 he fell in love of a men and was accusated of “indecency” and was send to prison. Left from the prison Oscar Wilde wrot of his life in jail: “The ballad of reading Gaol”.

In the end he dead on 1900 with the age of 46.
